Speed reading has benefitted me so much that I want to share it with others. When I started using the speed reader it opened me up to the joy of reading. I began to actively look for more texts to read.
It takes some practice. Beginners will find it helpful to have a copy of the text open. Links to Project Gutenberg are provided for each book.
Make sure to take breaks. You can easily find yourself having just read ten thousand words in the last half hour.
There are many opinions about speed reading. I hope you experience as many timbres of text as possible. It is very easy to read a typical modern blog post. It's kinda difficult to read Old English.
It's up to you to control the speed of the reader. Doing research about what you are reading is a great idea too. Services like SparkNotes are really valuable if you're trying to read a whole book quickly. Like any good reader, you should re-read.
I hear ya. Yes. You will definitely find yourself emotionally interpreting events at a normal speed. It kinda ruins it if the next part of the story just keeps coming at you.
I understand why some people would bash speed reading. More so a classical text. Especially for the first time. I agree it's not the same but I'm not suggesting that you drive to random forests and sprint down random new paths for as long as possible.
I want to do it everyday. My goal is to have the top 100 books on Project Gutenberg.
